USEFUL WORDS

Found these little charts in an old issue of Iron Horse recently and thought they were worth sharing. There is a lot of bullshit (or widespread confusion as they call it) talked about how to measure how much "over" a front end is, this should clear it up.

I have just been sorting out a few old Amal Monobloc carbs to sell off and found this website that gives all the carb numbers and original applications. Never realised that Monoblocs had a date code on them before. Living and learning....

SHOVEL FOR SALE

My friend Steve is selling his Shovel (featured in the current issue of GKM Magazine). He already has a good offer from a non-believer but would like his bike to go to someone who will appreciate and ride it. Its a 1200 kick and electric start and has been totally reliable all year including the trip from North Yorks to Cornwall for The Linkert Attacks. Stevie's owned it for 5 years now and anyone who rides old stuff will appreciate how much effort goes into getting a bike to this level.
The sale will fund his ongoing research into the history of Sorcery at the University of California next year. If you dont already, check out "thewizardslair" on Instagram.

Mail Stevie direct if you have a genuine interest at steviezombie@aol.com

PROGRESS REPORT

Managed a couple of miles on the Thunderbird yesterday, first time its turned a wheel under its own steam for over 20 years. After a life of hardtails and cafe racers its like riding on a cloud. There are a few little jobs to do before a proper test ride but nothing major. Standard is the new custom, for now anyway...

The wiring is now sorted on the GSXR as is the oil cooler (since these pics), not that much left to do before it lives. You will probably hear it when it happens, wherever you are.

ENGINEERING TRIUMPH

Right side engine runs conventionally, left presumably runs backwards with a reverse head. Drive is direct. Try explaining this to some drunk twat in a Jesters hat at a bike rally.
It was suposedly built by a guy who used to work for Sonny Routt so there was a chance it worked.

A TUESDAY TRITON

Phils Triton.

"It belonged to Pat McGrath, a good friend and neighbour of mine who died 20 months ago. He was in his early 50's when he passed away and I got a chance to buy it recently.
Wideline frame, 6T motor and alot of character. Hasn't even been turned over since his death  - I got it running and after a bit of fettling took to the road. Its been a while since I've had anything that old on the road and it felt pretty good".

Nice story Phil and good to see it being used.

Metmachex arm, Dyna coils, Micron St/St system, 40mm carbs, 400 seat and bolt on subframe. Engine and tank already spoken for, everything else up for grabs. tri650@live.co.uk
