READY FOR THE 'BURN

Replaced the scruffy old Lucas mag on the sprinter with a scruffy old BTH mag and its like a new bike, starts second kick ish and even ticks over. It runs so good ive about wrecked the slick.
Chop seems OK, hopefully oil leaks all sorted (for now). Made a ram pipe out of a turbo inlet, narrowed the bars 2", repositioned the front caliper so there is less knock off on the pads and reworked the rear brake linkage to give more leverage so the brakes seem pretty good now. Also gone down 3 teeth on the rear sprocket to make for better crusin' and finally found some more big finned exhaust rings. I will give it a good run after next weekend, i'm not cleaning it again..

NIGEL CARREN

In this world of custom bikes and cars you get used to meeting some very clever people but this guy's work is unbelievable. Nigel Carren is an Englishman working in France recreating suits of armour for collectors, film and fashion. He mailed me last week to say he was enjoying the blog and sent me a photo of the Bellini special, a car he built a while back.

On the fashion page of his website there are some photos of a well proportioned girl called Michelle Bond, in the name of research i had a look on Google Images to see who she is, you should..

MEET THE BAND

The Green Monster.

Tennessee Bo-Weevil.

Sidewinder.

GREAT SOUNDS

Not the first record i ever bought but pretty close. Recorded in Detroit on Labour Day 1959, everything from 4 cyl Crossleys to V12 Allison aero engines. This was probably my introduction to Drag Racing and i have been hooked ever since.
I found a few photos today of the cars on the album, seems strange to actually see for the first time something ive been listening to for over 40 years. I will post them here later.

IRN BRU

Nice set of girders for sale, 23" centre of spindle to top of leg. All (good apart from welded on headlight brackets). Nice brass inverted clutch lever. No idea what they came off but ideal bobber/special.

SHOW US YER INJURIES

Following on from Ellis' needle finger last week Al sent me a photo of his hand burnt in an accident in the workshop, where there's blame there's a sticker (or two). Maybe a bit of self harming could be a good way of bagging some free stickers if you dont feel your bike is worthy.
A&I's old and new send 'em in. More gross the better !

THE VEHICLE IN FRONT IS A ...

..Discovery. This may mean nothing to city folk but out here in the sticks these rusting lumbering heaps are everywhere, driven (badly) by elbow patched welly wearing faux farming fuckwits at 25mph in town and 45 out of town. They are never washed and usually contain at least one dog some hay and a fat wife who will refer to it as our Disco, which implies a place where youthful people have fun which it quite obviously isn't. If they were real farmers they would have a Landrover; what they really want is a Range Rover but are stuck with this in between, do fuck all, mobile dump of a car. Discoverys have little or no carrying capacity, are uneconomical, noisy, ugly, wallowing pieces of shit, the only discovering they should be doing is finding the nearest scrapyard.

Of course there are people who use them for off-roading, we wont even go into that. If you have one you should be ashamed.

RICH

Tuono gone last week, Z1000 sold today. BSA partly in bits here.
