MY BIG FAT GYPSY SAW, JACKET AND MUDGUARD

A chance meeting a few weeks ago revealed i have a talented artist living less than 20 miles away. Rich has now lettered my jacket, done some gold leaf work on my rear guard and painted me a saw/sign. He is currently getting into engraving work as well. Check out his monsters and make a friend at Gypsy Rich and tell him i sent you.

POCKET ROCKET

Pocket Rocket 2 is a new work By Ben Wilson created for the Power Of Making Exhibition at the V&A which runs from 6 September 2011 to 2 January 2012.
He collaborated with Neil Melliard to create a paint scheme inspired by traditional bicycle lugs, butting up to the hand fillet brazed steel frame it has 23 carat gold leaf accents to emphasize the workmanship that went into building the bicycle. The bike has 2 speed kick back brakes and to top it off, a Wilson/Roofer special Brooks saddle.
Ben's bikes are real works of art, check them out on his blog

TRITON TUESDAY

Chris Jarvis did the lettering and lining on two of my Tritons, the black one in '05 and the white one in '88. Way back in the early 80s he also designed my (much copied) logo for T shirts.

PAINT

I stripped my chop down ready for paint earlier this week only to discover that the guy who usually paints my bikes has "retired" (got fed up). I fannied around for a day and then bit the bullet and took the tank to Dave Dickinson, local Scooter custom painter. Its going to be immense ! and yes i know i said metalflake has been done to death and i know i said it would be subtle....
This is some of his work, be impressed.

NORTH YORKS SCOOTERS

Being close to seaside resorts like Scarborough Whitby and Bridlington we have a large scooter scene and all these were painted by local man Dave Dickinson. The photos are from the Isle of Wight Rally over the august bank holiday and taken by Guy who works in the unit next to me. His is the LI in the top photos.

If you want similar you'd better start saving, paintwork to this standard is not a cheap hobby !

PHOTOGRAPHY

I am not a photographer, i have a little point and squirt Cannon Ixus which is almost always set on auto and i just click on things i like. Mostly the results are amateurish at best but every now and then i get one i am pleased with. This was Jimmy Monk's Panhead at Linkert Attacks last weekend at about 3.00am sun morning. We all rode out for a beer late saturday afternoon and when we came back he stuck it against the wall and left it there, i waited for ages (2 minutes ?) for the car to go but it didnt, thats how dedicated i am !
I know it isnt very sharp and technically it is most probably shit but i like it.

CRUZIN

Dice 25, a milestone in publishing history. It had the cover by artist Jason Cruz and my rustola T'bird featured. I bought a T shirt from Jason via his splendid website and as he is such a top chap and likes my bike he sent me a free one printed with the cover artwork. Far out.

And how cool is his van.

Between us we also helped the flagging UK economy by donating £11 to HM customs !

Have a look, buy a shirt.
