MURRAY MINT

Anyone who saw the work in progress shots from Wayne would know this little XS was going to be special. Wayne is Murray Customs, formerly of Southern Scotland and now in Western Australia and has a habit of building no compromise bare bones bikes.

GUNNER

Yea i know i was gunner do this and gunner do that but after the Inland Revenue, Council, Customs and Excise, DVLA, Ebay, Paypal and Accountant have had (far more than) their fair share there just isnt enough left for my little XS. I am not one to have bikes just sitting in a corner doing nothing, they either have to be usable and used or they go so step in..
It is a 1973 XS2/650, engine just rebuilt (less than 50 miles) with Wiseco 707cc pistons, new Mikunis and KNs from Heiden Tuning, electronic ignition, H/D clutch. TT pipes by Will, Yoshi rearsets, Hagon shocks, Brembo rear brake, full XS750 front end (thicker stanchions), Renthals, Digital speedo, QA throttle, 18" Akront alloy rims with soft Avon AM23/22s. Comes with a few spares, alloy side panels, front mudguard etc.
Stuff to do: There is no MOT or Tax. Starter motor seems to have given up so its bump start only at the moment (and thats not easy !), petrol tap leaks, thats about it really. Paintwork is by an amateur on a cold day but thats what stickers are for.

£1600 to a good home or ghetto. Can arrange delivery anywhere in UK or Ireland. tri650@live.co.uk SOLD TO A HAPPY TOM.

XS PAINT

Got round to doing the paintwork on my XS Flat Tracker jobby today although its really still way too cold. Havent painted anything for years (even with aerosols) so no great expectations. With the help of an old Sun for masking up with i did learn that Jacko had a 30k a month habit when he died and Kelly 24 is doing her bit for the economy.
Probably a fair bit of flatting down and polishing tomorrow and if that fails i have lots of Sideburn stickers.

XS MODS

Because i cant leave anything alone i made a start on the XS this morning, the strange exhausts are going and Will is making up some others using old Triumph TT pipes and the original reverse cone meggas. There seemed to be a lot of wiring for a bike that only has an ignition so i stripped off the loom covers and got rid of what wasnt in use and shortened what was, as you can see that was most of it.

Tank and seat are ready to be rubbed down for painting, a visit to Halfords later this week should sort that out.

Not that any of this is really necessary, its just an inbuilt need to alter everything i have to make it mine.
