THE MARKET GARDNER

I know it should be Tuesday to post a Triton but i picked this one up yesterday and its a belter. I bought it first in 2008 when it was an ex sprint race bike, a non runner and unregistered.  I sold it to Paul in Sheffield shortly after and he spent 4 years and much money getting it to the standard it is at now.

Fully rebuilt engine with Morgo 750 barrels, rotary pump, 3134 cams, R followers, gas flowed splayed  head, BTH electronic mag and those wonderful Gardner carbs rebuilt by Ron Gardner personally at the age of 91. Transmission is an AMC box with Commando diaphragm clutch and Hayward belt. It goes very well (for an over 60) and stops like no other brit bike i've had with the Grimeca 4ls front brake. Nothing was left untouched, bronze bushed swinging arm, Lansdowne Engineering fork damping conversion, Scitsu rev counter, new alloy tanks (he liked them with the understated brushed finish)..... The only things i remember it having first time round are the exhausts which are loud, very ! He also got it registered with DVLA as a 1960 Triton. It isn't a tarts handbag, its a fully functional antisocial weapon that will cause neighbours to hate you, exactly what a motorcycle should be.

It was ridden for just over 100 miles in 2013 and then he put it at the back of the garage and bought a 1098 Ducati.

I didn't buy it to sell, i bought it because it's wonderful but if you cant live without it .........

FARMER JOHN

John is a local guy who's been buying Slabside GSXR parts off me for a few months for a bike he is restoring. He invited me to go and see the bikes he's built over the years so I went for a look yesterday. Each one has its own story and all apart from the trials AJS were built/restored by him. At least two were bought in the village pub, the green A7 in boxes for £100 ! maybe I should get out more. He has owned the '63 Bonneville for over 40 years.
He went to the TT on the Lightning Clubman three years ago but with increasing years (he's even older than me) finds it hard to start them now so his riding is limited to an Aprillia Mille R and a Fireblade....

THE TUESDAY TRITON PAINTJOB

I once sold a car to a blind man who ran his hands over the bodywork and pointed out what parts needed attention, his driver went in the house and had a cup of tea, he said he knew nothing about cars.

TUESDAY (FOR SALE) TRITON

Chris is selling this Triton ex racer, good spec 650 pre-unit, RRT2, Wideline, Dunlop rims, Chrono clocks, original '54 registered, all the right parts. Owned by him and his dad for over 25 years but it has to go to fund other projects. £7,000 firm (if youve checked out the going rate for an RRT2 box recently you will know that is not expensive). I have had the details and photos on my computer now tempting me for a couple of weeks but ive got to stick with the plan ! Chris is in Suffolk and you can contact him at hembus@hotmail.co.uk

A TUESDAY TRITON

Phils Triton.

"It belonged to Pat McGrath, a good friend and neighbour of mine who died 20 months ago. He was in his early 50's when he passed away and I got a chance to buy it recently.
Wideline frame, 6T motor and alot of character. Hasn't even been turned over since his death  - I got it running and after a bit of fettling took to the road. Its been a while since I've had anything that old on the road and it felt pretty good".

Nice story Phil and good to see it being used.

THE TUESDAY TRITON

Must be the UKs most radical Triton, i believe from somewhere on the South coast. Does anyone have any info on this bike ?
