WHAT'S NEW ?

Unlike the all new exactly the same Eat the Rich UK, Guy's beautiful Greasy Kulture Magazine is from this month very much all new. There are quite a few little independent magazines devoted to the vintage chopper scene all vying for our attention (and cash), take it from me, this is the best. Buy it via the equally impressive new GKM website here

I do have a new sticker though, courtesy of the wonderful Scarlett. I recon you how to get one.

NEGATIVE IMAGE

This GTX advert ran for one month only in 1968 before being withdrawn presumably as it put out the wrong image. It didn't make me buy Castrol oil (i didn't have a bike then anyway) but i always remembered the ad and found it again last week in an old Motor Cyclist Illustrated.

GENTLEMEN LETS BROADEN OUR MINDS

New issues of Dice and Greasy Kulture arrived today. These are not just magazines they are a public service, bibles to style, fulfillment and a better life. They are also packet of Lights and pint of Peroni cheap and when you've had a cough and a piss they will still be there.
Buy them and open new doors. It may be grey and shite outside but between the covers is sunlight and warmth and Dr Glory. I would buy Dice just for Dr Glory.
They will make you smile, feel good and give you inspiration to dress better and ride your bike more. I know you think like me 'cos your'e reading this.
Do some mousing yer and yer and do it now.
* Note i have no affiliation with either publication just love and admiration.

When Guy presents an award you just know its not going to be a piece of tatty turquoise plastic. Whoever wins this at Mooneyes show in Yokohama next weekend is a lucky man.

7 UP TRIUMPHS

AEE Choppers built these two near identical bikes for 7 Up in 1971. What you cant see in the photos is a little rack on the back of each bike to hold bottles of pop, possibly the first theme bikes built for a major company.
I first saw them on AEE blog, it seems the only feature was in Street Choppers in '72 so i tracked down a copy.

NABD MAGS

To fuel my addiction to '70s Bike magazines i recently bought these off Ebay and it turns out they are being sold to help raise funds forNABD
They are selling them under the usernames Mr_Creature and BSH_raising_funds_for_n.a.b.d. so you can feed your habit and have a little warm feeling at the same time. They will also take your mags if you have any you want rid of, contact Stephen via any of their sales.
Give them your support, these people do good work and none of us know when we may need them.

2000 ACRES OF SKYE

Alioli and i are off to the Isle of Skye for a week tonight, if it rains (if !) i have plenty of badass reading. I've purposefully not started on this months BSH and only done a chapter of No Angel (lent by Tiddles) then today Guy sent me Tony Thompson's Outlaws book and latest GKM, best not forget me ready readers.

The only person i know of who comes from Skye is Danny MacAskill. In 2009 he worked in a cycle shop in Edinburgh then his friend made this film and put it on Youtube.

Within a week it had over a million hits and the fame brought him sponsorship from Red Bull enabling him to make the film Way Back Home the story of a journey from Edinburgh to Skye. If you havent seen it there is a link at the end of Inspired Bicycles, it is THE best thing on Youtube, really.

and i will never forgive Michelle Collins for Kenny getting drowned...
and there had better be Puffins...

Back a week on Sunday.
