BLUE MURDER

I could've left it as it was but where's the fun in that ?  I thought about altering it completely, fast engine, head on right way round, maybe even some paint....couldnt do it. I bought some girders to chop and shorten to fit then decided i like the forks it has. So who knows ? updates as they happen...

DOWN AND OUT IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Called down to Shauns place in Barnsley yesterday, some tasty stuff going on as always.

Picked up most of a '92 GSXR1100 (you know where to come) and bought back these superb Girders that he got from me last year. 53" total length, 41" from bottom yoke, 6" between legs. I was going to cut them up for Old Blu' Evo 2 but that was yesterdays idea. If you want them let me know.

Shaun has a new blog, check his quality workmanship at  Down and Out Choppers

KEEPING THE FAITH

A while back i had a phase of Blog tedium, i mentioned it to a few people at the Trip Out, they were very supportive and said the show should go on. When i went on holiday last month i asked for a bit of reader input and the response was so good i had only just got through it all when Keith sent me photos of his Thunderbird in the early '70s. Being given the privilege of posting previously unpublished photos from over 40 years ago makes this whole thing worthwhile.

Keith was an early Chopper Club member and the photos of the Triumph in red are from 1972 when it was first built. A collision with a Mini wrote off the front end and the bike was then rebuilt and painted green. He finally sold it via MCS in Leytonstone and it was last heard of in Whitehaven in 1983.
Blog faith restored (for now), thanks Keith.
tri650@live.co.uk let me have it !

They not only finished 3 days of rallying on the Isle of Mull but Rob and Tom were first (real) Mini, 4th in class, got best turned out car award and spirit of the rally trophy after stopping to help another crew that had crashed. Buckets of wee chocolate bisquits were supplied by event sponsor Mr Caramel Teacake McTunnock (centre)

Well done boys.

BELLE VUE RE-VISITED

Venom had been sat behind a local pub for 20+ years until Dougal rescued it last night. He washed it off this morning and it looks as mad as it did in the bottom photo at Belle Vue back in 1977. Originally built by Ian Etheridge in Stockport, a real survivor.
Hopefully back on the road next year cruising Malton and the East Coast.

MY BIG FAT GYPSY SAW, JACKET AND MUDGUARD

A chance meeting a few weeks ago revealed i have a talented artist living less than 20 miles away. Rich has now lettered my jacket, done some gold leaf work on my rear guard and painted me a saw/sign. He is currently getting into engraving work as well. Check out his monsters and make a friend at Gypsy Rich and tell him i sent you.

SMOKE NEAR THE WATER

Its a long time since i put Ali's wonderful GSXR/GS thou' rasta bike on here. He was at a bleak Crail Raceway last weekend trying to keep warm, still looking and sounding as good as ever.
Smoke near the water ? if you carry on at the end of the strip you end up in the North sea.

SALTBURN HILLCLIMB

Saltburn is a small town on the North East coast and for 12 years had an annual vintage hillclimb on the road up from the harbour. Unfortunately in 2004 some bright council office worker discovered that they did not have jurisdiction to close the road so it had to stop. The organising club have tried hard to cut through the red tape and get the event running again and this year succeeded, albeit untimed, in mid September. Hopefully next year it will be back to a proper meeting again.
Regular EtR contributor Jon Court was there with his daughter as passenger on his Empire Star. The photos are courtesy of Ian Forsyth, lots more on his website,
also worth checking out Ians photos from last weeks Pickering War Weekend, Al and i went but forgot the camera ...

THE TUESDAY TRITON

Barry lives down the road from me and has a serious collection of old bikes. He just bought this Triton ex race bike last week. 750 Morgo, 4 plug head, close ratio box, the business.

RIGID TRIUMPH FOR SALE

Somethings got to go so it may as well be the most reliable and easy to ride Triumph i've ever owned ! I have done well over 2,000 miles on it this year without any problems other than things falling off that i should have checked but didn't.
Basically its a '52 rigid 5T/6T frame with all the original lugs and brackets, the sprung hub works perfectly, Thunderbird big bearing motor with balanced crank, 3134 cams, Morgo oil pump, 9 stud 700cc barrels (A65 pistons i am told but i haven't had it apart to check), Amal Concentrics, recon BTH mag and the rest you can see in the photos.
It is registered as 1959 (Historic vehicle) six digit non-trans number. Taxed and MOT until next spring.
It smokes a little on the over-run due to a bit of wear in the exhaust guides but it has done it all year and is no worse now that it was in April when i got it. The front wheel needs aligning a bit, again it always has and unless you start trying to be famous it's not an issue.
£4,500 to save you asking or if there is no interest by the start of next week i will probably split it up, let me know if there's anything you fancy.
If broken all parts will be available except gearbox and oil tank both needed for the upcoming Old Blart revival.
