A LIFE LESS UNORDINARY

Went up the road yesterday morning and started thinking of ways to protect the carbs from shale at Dirtquake 2, problem solved ! Why didn't Triumph think of this.....
Got a manifold coming from Shaun at Down and Out Choppers and for now will run with the original Monobloc. Working on this motor is so good because your hands and clothes are impregnated with Castrol R by the end of the day,
Just for old times sake...

Road pics and a report on how well it runs next week.

SKULLCHOPPA AND THE PORTERHOUSE STAKEOUT

Spent a great and relaxing day out in the sunshine of South Lincs and Norfolk yesterday. First visit was to Richard Millard at Skullchoppa . Its the second time i have been to his place and just as inspiring as the first, if i had all this stuff i would never go home, except it seems he has as much there as well.
Just check out those "Elvis in Vegas" saddlebags !

100 miles or so East we were at the Porter families chop and chicken ranch at Dereham where Guy was shooting Andys perfect Panhead chop for a forthcoming issue of GKM . Topped off the day with man (men) V food at the Newark OK Diner.
Every week should have days like this.

WARBIRD

The wonderful Vincent Warbird photographed at Santa Pod in the early '70s by Dave Blamey who now lives in Australia. So many good things in this photo.
I did a bit of Google research and swiped this equally good image from around the same time.

The bike was built and owned by Robin Ditcher and ran a best time of 11.7 but was hampered by clutch problems. Robin apparently still has the engine.

Source of info was the excellent Acceleration Archives

RESTORATION MAN

After almost a minutes deliberation i decided my '61 Thunderbird should stay standard, bathtubs, nacelle the lot. I'm not getting anal about it, if i have a better non standard part, that goes on but i recon its time (after 32 years) i had a Triumph that two people can tour about the countryside in relative comfort. Engine and chassis are done, just waiting on paintwork and a few little parts then hopefully on the road next month cruising around in the sun.

WORKING ON A SUNDAY

Although i never really count a sunny day at Newark as work.

NSU Quickly and Velosolex mopeds, pre war Lucas car headlights, classic sidecar racing parts, girders, 3 ace little chop tanks, cafe racer and chopper seats, Wideline alloy tank, the tidyest Griffin Clubman ever and the one and only set of Stellings and Hellings bars i've ever had. Now i have to persuade myself to part with some of it...
